About

Earthen Enchantment is a place for inspiration, for simplicity. Each forest treasure is handmade with time, care, and respect for the natural world. It has been my dream to abandon synthetic materials in daily life, returning to the bounties of nature, harvested sustainably and respectfully.

Over time, I have become opposed to the cheapness and poor quality of mass-produced products, and I will do what I can to provide quality, natural, handmade crafts that each have their own personality and uniqueness.

I hope that my crafts appeal to a wide variety, to those who admire art and decoration, for children who desire a quality toy, an alternative to the plastic abundance of today.

My crafts are made mainly from materials found in nature, and are biodegradable. What I use that is not found in the yard or forest is repurposed, recyclable material.

It is important to explain how my crafts are made and what they are made of, as expressed below:

Felt fairies, animals, and other wee folk:

Meet these little, whimsical forest friends! Each is unique and handmade, completely from natural wool. Use them as a charming decoration, give them as a gift, or play with them as quality toys.

The arms and legs are posable and can be bent into realistic positions. Fairies can be made with or without wings and facial expressions. If you intend to use your fairy as a hanging decoration, they will then be made with a long flowing gown.

Each creation is a unique individual. They are made by a process called needle felting, in which you shape and compress wool with a felting needle, lots of practice and patience, and a bit of imagination and creativity. I love creating them and watching as different styles and personalities unfold!

Larger needle felted animals make great companions for the magical little fairies. These also have a wire armature and are able to pose in different position. Small needle felted animals are sometimes posable but may also be made solely from wool, depending on the piece.

Fairy houses:

Fairy houses are made primarily from bark, twigs, and dried moss. Decorations often include dried or pressed flowers and leaves, pinecones, acorns, and dried berries. To adhere all the pieces together, I apply a handmade, natural flour glue mixture, sometimes mixed with clay or other fine soil. Stone fairy houses have a cardboard base and are covered with fine stones and pebbles.
